Underwater Photography — Keeping the camera dry and the photographer alive!

Bruce Dickson, Dickson Images

This presentation will explore the history of underwater photography, the equipment used and the similarities and differences between photography above and below water. The presentation will conclude with a slideshow of Bruce’s favorite images from over the years.

Bruce Dickson has over twenty years experience as a scuba instructor and underwater photographer. He has logged close to 2000 dives and has captured many thousands of images on both film and digital media, using equipment ranging from the classic Nikonos film cameras to the latest housed digital SLR systems. A graduate of the Stephen Frink School of Underwater Photography, he teaches classes and leads workshops on underwater photography around the world. His work has been published by Divers Alert Network, Professional Association of Dive Instructors, Dive Equipment Marketing Association and others.

Bruce was born in Scotland and moved to the United States in the 1980’s. Now a naturalized US citizen, he lives in Raleigh with his wife Mary Lou. Together they are the co coordinators of CNPA Triangle Region.
